Inside Our Facility: A Day in the Life of a Plastic Part at Gemini

At Gemini Plastics, every part tells a story. From the first design conversation to the final shipment. Whether it’s molded, machined, or assembled, that story unfolds through a carefully orchestrated, ERP-driven workflow inside our De Pere, Wisconsin facility.

Here’s what a typical day looks like for a plastic part in our system.

7:00 AM — Design Collaboration with CADmore

The journey starts well before we ever touch a machine. Through our trusted partnership with CADmore, we offer full design and engineering services from material selection to manufacturability assessments. What sets this partnership apart? Instant access.

As soon as CADmore finalizes a drawing, our team receives live access to the production files, accelerating the quoting process and ensuring we’re aligned from day one. There’s no back-and-forth chasing PDFs or revisions; we’re ready to move the moment you are.

8:30 AM — Fast Quoting & Order Acknowledgment

With drawings in hand, our estimating team turns around quotes quickly, often the same day. Once your purchase order is received, we send a formal acknowledgment through our ERP system, confirming every detail: materials, lead times, packaging requirements, and more. Every document is digitally stored and fully traceable.

9:00 AM — Production Planning & Scheduling

Next stop: production planning. Our ERP system routes the job through scheduling, materials allocation, and traveler generation, all without paper. Whether your part requires molding, machining, or both, we assign the right equipment, tools, and operators to ensure smooth execution.

10:00 AM — Manufacturing in Motion

Your part now enters active production. Gemini’s capabilities include injection molding, precision machining, and hybrid manufacturing workflows. Operators follow digital job travelers that outline every step, reducing errors and boosting consistency.

In-process checks ensure dimensional accuracy and cosmetic quality. Any adjustments or issues are documented in real time, with immediate corrective action if needed.

12:00 PM — Visual & Dimensional Quality Checks

Parts go through our QA team for inspection, using gauges, calipers, and visual standards tailored to your project. We don’t rely on paper logs or siloed notes. Each check is recorded directly in our ERP, enabling traceability and immediate feedback to the floor when needed.

2:00 PM — Light Assembly & Custom Labeling

Beyond core manufacturing, many parts require value-added services. Our team handles light mechanical assembly, sub-component installation, and part kitting. Need special packaging or customer-specific labeling? We do that too.

From branded labels and serialized barcodes to multi-part kits in custom packaging, we make it easy to go from production floor to shelf-ready delivery.

4:00 PM — Packaging & Shipment

Once the job clears final inspection, it’s packed per your specifications. Whether that means standard cartons, custom trays, or multi-part assemblies with instructions, we configure each order for safe, efficient delivery.

Every shipment is scanned and documented within our ERP, so you can trace what shipped, when, and where it’s going without needing to chase down paper records.

5:00 PM — Another Part Begins Its Journey

As one order leaves the dock, another enters the system. Thanks to our integrated, mostly paperless ERP environment, the handoff is seamless and the momentum never stops. Every touchpoint is managed, recorded, and optimized for speed and quality.

Why It Matters
